Want to be a part of the action? Think about volunteering at the Opera House. With only three staff members and dozens of performances and events annually, we rely upon volunteers year 'round to help keep the place shining bright. Volunteers make everything happen at the House.
Almost every performance requires that we have volunteers on hand to help with the load-in and load-out of equipment, as well as to assist in the box office, taking tickets, ushering, serving refreshments, selling merchandise and cleaning up. Our best volunteers are of strong body, understand emergency procedures and have a good sense of humor! With hundreds of audience members there are always hundreds of questions that need answers and our volunteers serve as the ambassadors of the Opera House. New volunteers undergo a brief training session before their first day or night of volunteering.
The Friends of the Opera House represent a special group of volunteers who work to raise money for the Opera House by selling coffee and desserts at events and performances. They not only sell the baked goods, they even BAKE these now legendary gourmet offerings. If you are a baker and want to help the cause, the Friends may be the group for you.
Additional volunteer opportunities exist for those who are willing to label and stamp and stuff our major spring and fall mailings. These "mailing parties" typically bring an interesting group together for good conversation while preparing the 1000's of mail pieces that we sometimes have to get out. If you are a graphic designer, please consider volunteering to help us with brochure and poster designs.
While the major renovations are complete at the Opera House, we still periodically need people to help with never-ending painting projects, dump runs, spring and fall garden planting and clean-up, so if you are a hands on person who doesn't mind getting dirty, one of these volunteer jobs might be just for you.
Volunteers also help by serving on board committees, and some even eventually serve on the Board of Directors. Skilled at creatively raising funds for a non-profit? Have a marketing background? Financial wizard? The Development, Marketing, Finance, and Buildings & Grounds Committees are always looking for wise and wonderful volunteers.
